Born and educated in New Zealand, I moved to Sunbury in 1978 and have been a member of the Goonawarra Golf Club for 19 years.

Prior to retirement in 2009, I was  Personal Assistant to Robert Gottliebsen, Managing Director, of BRW Magazine for 20 years.   After Gottliebsen’s departure from Fairfax, I was appointed Office Manager for the Melbourne office of Fairfax Publications and held that position for 3 years.

I have had considerable experience in managing a workplace for 60 staff members ensuring everyone had a safe and secure working environment.  Staff morale was of the utmost importance.

After retirement, I was able to play golf during the week and joined the Ladies Golf Club.   In 2009 was elected Lady President and held that position for 9 years.    The ladies’ club has been an enthusiastic supporter of Goonawarra Golf Club and will continue to do so by ensuring that any improvements to the Club and facilities are made in the best interests of all members.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Business Marketing I have an extensive background in various Senior Data Analytics roles at large companies including Origin Energy, Shell, Bupa and Telstra. I have lead various large projects and my roles have always had a customer first focus, with an attitude to improve the customer experience by understanding what our customers want through data and feedback.

In my current role, I am the Supply Chain Data Quality Lead at Telstra, with a focus on data quality throughout our various systems and rolling out a governance framework aligned to our enterprise strategy.

I have been a member of the club since 2012, joining the match committee in 2019 and then the board as a director in 2020. With a passion for the sporting clubs I represent, I have held many previous committee roles at both tennis and football clubs.

I have just been elected/appointed as the captain (Director of golf).

Firstly, I would like to thank Tony McKeown, the outgoing captain for his service to the club.

I moved to Sunbury from Gippsland in 2006. Being from the country we (Wife Yvonne and 4 kids) didn’t have too much an idea of where a good place to live would be. I was advised to check out Sunbury due to the space it provided. After work one afternoon I came and played the back 9 holes here and the decision to move to Sunbury was made. The first thing I did was join the club. One has to have priorities. I am very proud to now be the captain of the club I am so passionate about.

I am a self-funded retiree with time enough to dedicate to the club. I am also a very process driven individual as I have a background in member organisations including Industry Super.

My focus going forward, along with the match committee, will be to work to make the course the best it can be for the members.

To ensure that golf is enjoyable and fair for all, through the smooth running of golf and with a particular focus on pace of play, safety and course setup, to provide a documented communication process for members to the match committee.

I intend to be a visible presence at the club. Whenever I can I will be on the course to help ensure smooth operations via the Marshal cart etc, this will have the dual purpose of being able to directly communicate across a large cross section of players. I will be holding a meeting as soon as practical with the Match committee, and members can expect a further communication from myself and the committee soon thereafter.

Once again, I am humbled by the opportunity afforded to me to be the captain of the club.
